We count visits to this page, anonymously, so we know whether anyone is interested in the name. We do it on our own server with our own copy of the open-source analytics tool Umami. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t put anything on your device, and doesn’t follow you to other sites.
What a visit records
- The page and time, and the site that sent you here, if any (without anything after a “?”).
- Your approximate location (country and city), browser, operating system, device type and language.
- A visitor code made from your IP address and browser details that can’t be turned back into either. Your IP address is used for the location lookup and the code, and is not stored.
What it doesn’t
No name, email address, cookie or advertising profile, and nothing is shared with or sold to anyone else. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we don’t count your visit at all.
Why, and for how long
Our legitimate interest is judging demand for the name. The anonymous statistics are kept until we delete them. Because they can’t be tied back to you, we can’t look up or delete one person’s visit.
If you get in touch
We receive the name, email address, message and any figure you type, and use them only to reply and, if we both want to, to talk about the name, because you asked us to. They’re stored with Cloudflare, who host this page for us, and emailed to us through Resend, an email service. The stored copy is deleted after 12 months, and we’ll delete the email too if you ask. We don’t share them or use them for marketing. Email contact@almostanengineer.co.uk to see or delete yours.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
